PARK CITY, Utah- Olympic silver medalists Shauna Rohbock (Orem, Utah) and Valerie Fleming (Foster City, Calif.) slid to a bronze medal finish on their home track in the women's bobsled World Cup event at the Utah Olympic Park in Park City, Utah today. U.S. teammates Erin Pac (Farmington, Conn.) and Elana Meyers (Douglasville, Calif.) teamed together for the first time, claiming their first-ever World Cup podium position with a fifth place result.

Rohbock and Fleming placed second overall in 2006-07 standings, and are in the hunt for the 2007-08 title. The duo finished the first heat in fourth position with a time of 49.79 seconds, just seven-hundredths of a second from the medals. A hometown crowd cheered as USA I crossed the finish line with a second run of 49.69 seconds, moving Rohbock and Fleming into third place with a combined time of 1:39.48 for the bronze medal.

"After the week I had, third was a good result," Rohbock said. "I drove different sleds during the week because I was having some trouble with the steering. I think I was still able to put together two solid runs, but I also have a hurt abductor, so I wasn't able to help Val out at the start much, so that hurt us as well."

Rohbock and Fleming pushed the eighth and sixth fastest pushes of the competition with 5.36 and 5.33 start times, respectively.

"Both of us have injuries, so I'm pleased that we were still able to be in the mix," Fleming said. "But I think we could have had a better result if we had some extra hundredths at the start."

2006 Olympic Champion Sandra Kiriasis teamed with Romy Logsch for the gold medal. The German duo slid runs of 49.26 and 49.34 for a combined time of 1:38.60, twenty-eight hundredths of a second ahead of the field. German teammates Cathleen Martini, World Championship silver medalist, and Janine Tischer claimed the silver medal with a total time of 1:38.88 after consistent runs of 49.42 and 49.46.

Pac, who made her World Cup debut last season, teamed with rookie push athlete Meyers for her best-ever World Cup result. The duo pushed the fifth fastest start times in both heats, a 5.33 and 5.31, finishing in fifth place overall after finish times of 49.82 and 49.90 for a combined time of 1:39.72.

"I'm totally psyched," Pac said. "I had no idea how we were going to push, because Elana and I have never pushed together in a race before. This was Elana's first World Cup race, and she did awesome. I'm very happy to have my first World Cup podium finish."

The women will compete in Lake Placid, N.Y. for the third World Cup stop of the 2007-08 season on Saturday, Dec. 15. Don't miss the men's two-man bobsled competition in Park City, Utah LIVE and On-Demand on NBCOlympics.com today at 9:30 pm EST.
